Crossfit Level 1
Burgener Strength Weightlifting Level 1
As a child and teen, I was a competitive swimmer, so sports and athletics have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Flash forward to my early adult years, and I was in and out of shape, working out just enough, but I was missing that love that I had for fitness for so long. I was looking for something different. I had tried distance running, solo workouts at the gym, and group fitness classes, but I wasn't loving any of it. Josh felt the same way...this is where Fixed on Fitness was born. This was before fancy programming and CrossFit gyms on every corner. This was back in 2007 when the functional fitness trend was still very new. We began Fixed on Fitness as an outdoor boot camp in Pensacola in January 2008. I left my corporate job in 2012 to launch our Pace location, and I've been working with Josh full-time ever since. We opened the door to the FOF Training Center in January 2020. I love working with people. Helping someone accomplish a goal or simply see what they are capable of is one of the highlights of my day. I'm definitely the cheerleader of our FOF crew, but I truly enjoy the opportunity to encourage others each day when they walk through the door.
I had a turning point in my health and fitness journey as I entered my late 30s. My body had taken great care of me and had dealt with many years of training with minimal recovery, never-ending stress, and a constant push to do more. That changed in 2021 as I dealt with a labrum and rotator cuff tear in my left shoulder. It was both a mental and physical battle to begin the process of rehabbing that shoulder all while working through all the emotions that come with a major injury. On top of that, as many women close to 40 know, my hormones were jacked. All of the stress and years of pushing had added up, and I was faced with the fact that things had to change. I changed my training to help heal my shoulder and prevent further injuries. Mobility, stability, and perfect movement were the focus of each workout. I stopped the constant high-intensity training and focused on a workout program that would not only change the way my body looked but also support my hormones in the process. I've learned that recovery is vital if I want to continue training for the rest of my life. I still love to pick up a heavy barbell sometimes, push the pace on a super intense workout, or go for a long run in the woods, but more often than not, you'll find me hitting tempo work, moving at a moderate intensity, working on accessory movements, and just trying to look good and move well.
I love people. I love seeing the confidence that a middle-aged mom experiences when she learns to deadlift for the first time! While I love working with and training, my true passion is helping people address and improve their mindset.
